An Unexpected Patch Of Absence

reality_crossroads_oocMy apologies to anyone my charas were in threads with (I know Ice (arctic_kawaii), Shadow (dwn_kagemusha), Quint (pogo_boy), and Punk (punk_wily) had stuff going. (and Mikoto and Regulus, but I'm not sure if that got lost.)
My desktop computer partly melted, and I'm still setting up the laptop to work properly online. (also known as trying to force Windows 8 to be tolerable, so this could take work...) I finally have Firefox and Trillian back, as well as my LJ Login plugin I use and Ad Blocker Plus, but am still trying to get it to download and install missing ActiveX components and Adobe Flash. It could take a while... a long while since I'm on dialup. And when it's downloading it's been fussy about opening any other pages. (though from experience I expect that will clear up a bit with use)
I will try to get back to replies as it lets me, but if you've noticed the lateness - or if it happens again, because it's claiming DirectX might be a 12-hour download on dialup - well, that's what the issue is over here. Hopefully it'll all be resolved as soon as possible. I just tell myself it could have been worse - I could have been unable to make Windows 8 use dialup at all, and then I would have likely been completely incommunicado for a couple of months.
I have about 83 emails due to difficulty in answering them during this time, but hope to start getting to some of them, and to RP replies, today, once the more critical stuff is installed. I figure I can download Direct-X while I sleep if it's that big, but I want my virus protection software back and I can't answer some of my emails without flash.
Anyhow, thank you for patience, and I'll start attacking backlog as soon as I can.
